Interwoven Birds Brooch

The work of Courtney Davis, artist/author of Celtic Borders & Decoration inspired this brooch of sterling silver. The bird design was originally created by the artist as a repeating pattern printed onto fabric. I was drawn to the intricacy and delicate lines of the knot work that made up the birds’ necks. I made slight modifications to these fine details to adapt the design to pierced metal work and to add a bit of myself into the motif.  This was  my first piece.
