wool fabric in purple cut from a recycled thrift store 100% wool coat
wool yarn in yellow, blue and magenta (two ply)
fur trimming cut from a recycled thrift store muskrat coat
cotton sewing thread in burgundy for seam sewing
cotton sewing thread in brown for hand attachment of trim
chain stitch (yellow and blue)
straight stitch/back stitch/running stitch (yellow)
braiding (blue three strand braids)
couching (yellow over braids)
I chose to only trim the hat rather than fully line it. I was able to use the cuffs off of the coat with some left over fur to accomplish this. By applying trim only (it wraps to the underside as well for warmth) to the edge, I am left with a goodly amount to cut and apply as trimming for a wool mantle.
I was so pleased with how well the construction went, I probably shouldn't have embroidered a circle at the top. All of the edges lined up perfectly--much to my surprise.
